At the City of Laguna NiguelI have been reflecting upon the year and what an interesting year it has been–and March has just begun!!

I had the pleasure to join a City of Laguna Niguel Leadership Forum representing the Scouts.  Mayor Elaine Geneaway  was gracious enough to tag me on Facebook with this image–it was insightful and made me continue to take stock of all that I’m blessed with in every which way.

It was also a month that continued my on-going work Community Engagement & Public Policy Work with Commitments to the City’s Traffic Commission as a very challenging sitting meeting of the Commission ensued last night that I am still trying to assess.    I remain hopeful that I made a positive contribution.      Beyond the confines of my Community Projects, I am also as I write this first notation of the Month listening to the program from the Persian Program Iran Farda on the latest from Iran and the continued challenges posed by the policies of the Islamic Republic especially in light of what one of the analyst noted on the very perceptive commentary by the US Central Command Commander.     What is interesting is how a number of key Commanders in Iran have written to Iran’s Supreme Leader objecting to the future as his health apparently is on the wane and Iran continues to be unstable and the work by the resistance in Iran continues to bear fruit with non-violent resistance.

I am grateful to be able to be supportive of the work of the Daily Outsider assessing and curating the latest analysis as next week –as I continue to be supportive of the on-going daily curation of the Daily Outsider Social Media Curation effort.    This was also as I saw coverage of Vladimir Putin’s State of the Nation address showcasing Nuclear-Tipped weapons which will be at best problematic.

As the team as the Daily Outsider worked to finalize the curation roadmap for the month, What I ran across below this morning I also released to my personal Facebook truly embraced my sense of purpose from Jorge Luis Borges in addition to what I take comfort in as well–The Prayer of St. Francis:

“After a while you learn the subtle difference,
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul.

And you learn that love doesn’t mean sex,
And company doesn’t mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts,
And presents aren’t promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats,
With your head up and your eyes open.

And you learn to build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn,
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure…

That you really are strong,
And you really do have worth,
And you learn and learn,
With each day you learn.”

Onward to March…..
